Mermaids and a host of sea creatures will be in New Mills on Saturday (10 June) when the annual carnival procession takes place.
This year's event has an ‘Under the Sea’ theme for the parade with nurseries, primary schools, youth groups, and a host of local businesses and organisations expected to take part.
The procession will leave Market Street at 1pm and will then make its way down Union Road and up Albion Road, turning right on to Wirksmoor Road.
Attention will then turn to the carnival field at Newtown Rec, which will have fair, stalls, and entertainment.
Motorists are being warned that to allow the parade to take place a number of roads will be closed in the centre of New Mills.
High Street and Meal Street will be closed from 11am with Market Street, Union Road, Albion Road and Wirksmoor Road closed from 12.45pm. All roads will reopen at 2pm.
