This weekend, there will be meetings in dozens of towns around the country to raise the issue of energy bills and the need for a major insulation programme.
In Glossop, there will be a public meeting in Bradbury House at 7.30pm on Friday 31 March.
The main speaker will be Jonathan Atkinson, founder of the Carbon Co-op and People Powered Retrofit. Jonathan has expertise in all aspects of insulation and retrofitting - what to do about stone houses, when a heat pump will be the best solution, what are the barriers and problems and how to overcome them.
Paul Bohan, from the Zink Project in Buxton, will speak about energy saving tips and about the work of the project which provides advice and support on employment and all sorts of household issues.
And a member of the Warm Homes Glossop group will describe the nationwide campaign to push the Government into greater action on reducing energy bills, funding renewable energy and insulating the homes of people who cannot afford to do this themselves.
Participants in the meeting will be invited to add their names to a request to High Peak MP Robert Largan to sign the 'Warm This Winter' pledge. This is a declaration that he would help to keep his constituents warm every winter by urging the Government to take the actions needed to permanently bring down energy bills, whilst keeping homes warmer and reducing carbon emissions.
Signed appeals to Mr Largan will be taken to his office in Whaley Bridge by a delegation from the group on Saturday 1 April.
