Motorists are being warned that the A628 Woodhead Pass between Tintwistle and Crowden is due to be closed this weekend.
It will be closed from 8pm on Friday (5 March) to 6am on Monday (8 March).
It's part of the stabilisation work being carried out by Highways England, which started on 1 February and is set to last until around mid-April. Temporary traffic lights have been, and will continue to be, in operation 24/7 until the work is complete.
They say the full weekend closure will allow some excavation and piling across the width of the carriageway which is required to be carried out safely.
Highways England say the scheme is part of its £5 million investment for the A628, providing "safer and smoother roads and more reliable journeys for people using this strategic route".
