What next for the Talbot Road site in Glossop?

The Talbot Road school building being demolished back in March.

The former home of Glossopdale School on Talbot Road in Glossop has now been cleared of all buildings and secured, but what next for the site?

We asked Derbyshire County Council about their plans for the redevelopment of the site and if it will be sold off for housing.

Residents have already voiced concerns about the large number of housing developments under construction and being planned for Glossop, arguing that the town doesn’t have sufficient infrastructure to cope with the additional homes.

In a statement to the Glossop Chronicle, DCC said: “The Council is working with High Peak Borough Council as the planning authority to consider future suitable development.

“No decisions as to the future of the site have been made yet.”

The money raised from the sale of the site has been allocated by DCC to fund the replacement school built on the Hadfield site of Glossopdale School.

When pressed for the timescales of the proposed redevelopment, DCC said: “No timescales can be provided at this time. Once further information can be provided, we will do so.”
