People working and living in Glossopdale are continuing to be urged to get tested regularly for Covid-19 to help stop the spread of the Delta variant which first originated in India.
Public Health England data up to 23 June showed that the High Peak continues to be home to the largest proportion of Delta cases, with an outbreak centred in Glossopdale and linked to infections which have spread from Greater Manchester. Delta cases in the High Peak had increased to 242, up from 182 the week before.
Mobile testing sites are available this week across Glossopdale for people to get a PCR test - that is sent to a laboratory for analysis.
On Wednesday (30 June), it's based at the car park at the Geoffrey Allen Centre on Winster Mews in Gamesley from 9am to 5pm. No appointment is needed.
On Thursday 1 and Friday 2 July, it's at the Redgra area on Fauvel Road in Glossop from 9am to 5pm. People should book a slot online at https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test.
Then on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 July, it's at Glossopdale School on Newshaw Lane in Hadfield from 9am to 3pm. People should book a slot online at https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test.
Everyone is welcome, with residents being encouraged to continue to get tested twice a week whether they have symptoms or not.
Done by taking a swab of the throat and nose, the PCR test is the most reliable test for Covid-19. Children under 11 should be helped by an adult.
Results are usually returned within one to two days and help to keep track of cases, including new variants of Covid-19.
