Winter storm hits mountain rescue

Glossop Mountain Rescue Team were hit by a winter storm as they went to assist a woman who had injured her leg while walking with two others on the Pennine Way.

The incident on Tuesday afternoon (6 April) in the Herne Clough area, demonstrated how important it is to be fully prepared for all weather conditions.

Team members initially had set out in bright sunshine before the wintry storm stuck, which was later followed by more sunshine.

They transported the injured walker by stretcher to Snake Summit from where she was taken to hospital by family members.

Twenty-two team members took part in the rescue.
