'Winter Warmer' sessions in Glossop

On Tuesday 29 November, Friends of Victoria Hall held their first Winter Warmer Session.

Like many other local groups they are trying to provide a warm, welcoming space in which people can relax accompanied by a nice drink and a biscuit or a seasonal mince pie whilst saving on their own heating costs.

The first session was a huge success and saw members of the community enjoying a game of chess, scrabble or even a quick game of prize bingo for those who wished to join in. Some people enjoyed reading or working on their own crafts whilst chatting to others over a hot drink in the warmth.

The session was such a success that in January, if demand continues, they said they may introduce weekly sessions which they will require more volunteers for. Please contact fovhglossop@outlook.com if you are interested.

The Friends of Victoria Hall intend to continue the Winter Warmer sessions throughout the season with all ages welcome. If you would like to take the opportunity to meet new people in a safe, warm and welcoming environment then come and join us.

The Friends would like to say a big thank you to their volunteers and to the local Councillors for supporting the event. They also wish to thank Derbyshire County Council for their financial support enabling the events to continue.

The next Winter Warmer event will take place on December 27 between 1pm and 3pm. For any other dates of future events, visit the group's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/VictoriaHallGlossop/
