Work to replace gas mains in Gamesley is due to start next week and could continue until the end of the year.
Cadent - the company that maintains the gas network in the area - is set to begin a gas main renewals programme across parts of Gamesley on Tuesday 6 April.
The works are mainly scheduled for the 'electric' side of Gamesley, local councillor and High Peak Borough Council leader Anthony Mckeown has said.
Cadent has advised that the planned replacement method will see the new pipes inserted into the old gas mains wherever possible, reducing the need for large excavations.
However, some work will require trenches to be dug, due to the gas mains’ size, which will need to be installed.
Ageing gas service pipes supplying individual properties will also need to be replaced or existing PE supplies transferred to the new pipe.
Where they have to carry out this work, engineers will need to switch off the gas supply to affected properties for approximately 12 hours. Cadent say it will get in touch with affected properties involved nearer the time.
For properties where the gas supply has to be disconnected, they should be advised between 10 to 15 days before the work, with further visits before and following the works.
