The Amnesty Glossop local group is holding its annual ‘Write for Rights’ event on Saturday, November 13, at Central Methodist Church in Chapel Street.
It will run from 10am to 2pm and visitors are encouraged to sign the provided greetings cards to send to a number of different people who have suffered or are suffering human rights abuses worldwide.
Information on the cases and suggested messages for each one are also provided.
The group’s Rosie Gibbs, said: “Amnesty has undertaken this campaign for many years each winter and the movement helps people realise they are not alone in their struggle, and reminds those who are restricting or abusing their rights that the international community is aware of their actions.
“Refreshments will be available and we ask for a donation towards postage for any cards signed.”
