Youths causing trouble outside Covid vaccine hub

Police say a number of youths will be "getting visits from officers" after several incidents of anti-social behaviour outside a Covid vaccine hub, as well as breaches of lockdown rules.

Glossop Police's Safer Neighbourhood Team said on Facebook that they are seeing an increase of small groups of young people out and about during the evenings in New Mills.

They added that there have also been "a number" of incidents of anti-social behaviour outside Ardern House Medical Practice on Sett Close - which is currently acting as a hub for people to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.

Police say it is "totally unacceptable" that staff are being "subjected to this behaviour" when carrying out their vital work.

"Some of these young people have now been identified and will be getting visits from officers," they added.

Glossop Police SNT is also reminding parents that their children should only be going out within the allowed conditions and not gathering with their friends during the current national lockdown.

Under the restrictions, people are only allowed to leave home for a limited number of specific reasons and the only household mixing allowed is with one other person for exercise in an open public space, but you should stay two metres apart from each other.

Police have been stepping up patrols in the New Mills area in recent days.
