Avro made it five losses in a row through all competitions as the Oldham based club lost 5-0 away at Rylands FC on Saturday. It confirms a tough start to life in the North West Counties Premier Division as they find themselves on zero points and conceding thirteen goals in that time whilst scoring just four.

It was a fast start from the home side as just after 8 minutes Rylands should’ve been in front but Jordan Latham saved superbly in the Avro goal.

Ryland’s class was easy to see and on the 23rd minute, George Lomax put them in front with a great finish leaving Latham with no chance. The home side fired into a 2-0 lead just five minutes later as Jones finished neatly with a delicate sweep across goal.

Avro were lucky not to be three goals behind at the break as Rylands secured a penalty after Lomax was brought down. George Lomax stepped up to take the penalty but Latham, who got down quickly to his left, saved it superbly.

The second half began and it was evident that Avro were going to struggle as Rylands carried on applying the pressure. On the 58th minute, Rylands looked to have secured the three points as they added their third goal Molyneux’s free-kick from just inside the Avro half bounced in the box, evade everyone, and nestled into the corner.

Just two minutes later Avro found themselves 4-0 down and staring another heavy defeat in the face. George Lomax added his second as he went one on one with Latham and slotted it underneath him and into the net.

In the 89th minute, Rylands compounded the misery on Avro as they went 5-0 up through Molyneaux’s second goal of the game. The winger striking the ball into the far corner from the left-hand side and that concluded the game.

For Avro, it was a humbling defeat and one that they look to forget about as they host Barnoldswick Town on Wednesday 21st August at the Vestacare Stadium.
