All of these students achieved grades 9-7 across all of their results.

Blue Coat School said it was a "wonderful morning" as students and their families celebrated a "fantastic set" of GCSE results.

The Egerton Street school has reported that 35 per cent of all results were awarded at grades 9 to 7, while 88 per cent of all students achieved a grade 4 and above in English and Maths, and 70 per cent of all students got a grade 5 and above in English and Maths.

Head teacher Rob Higgins said the Year 11 students have been "unbelievable" this year, heaping praise on their efforts as well as the support they have received.

"They have had to endure so much disruption and uncertainty to their learning but the determination and resilience they have shown as well as the good humour they have maintained throughout the year, has been humbling to witness," he commented.

"They all deserve the excellent results they have received this morning, which have been achieved through their hard work and the sheer enthusiasm they have maintained for their learning.

"They have also received so much help and support from their families and the staff at school. It has been an incredibly difficult 18 months for everyone but on behalf of all of our young people, I’d like to thank their families and all the staff at Blue Coat for everything they have done and sacrificed on their behalf.

"It is fantastic to see them achieve such great GCSE results but it’s even better to see the caring, talented and thoughtful young adults they have all become. We are incredibly proud of everyone single one of our Year 11 students and are looking forward to welcoming them into our Sixth Form, or supporting them in their studies elsewhere."

It follows success for the school's Sixth Form in their A-Level results earlier in the week.

Clean Sweep: Three students Shyla Khan, Ethan Penny, and Neha Toqeer achieved grade 9’s in all of their subjects.

Ryan and Harrison Duddle also achieved an impressive 10 grade 9’s, four grade 8’s and three grade 7’s.

There was also great success for Aaron Atkinson and Mworina Doro. Between them they achieved two grade 9’s,12 grade 8’s and 7 grade 7’s and next year. Both boys will continue their studies alongside signing professional contracts with Oldham Athletic.
