Long-time supporters of Saddleworth's Youth Local Project, Saddleworth Rotary Club could not refuse an appeal from the charity to assist in kick starting the café, which they run to help raise funds at their Youth Club in the Satellite Centre, Greenfield.
The local charity explained profits from the Café helped to offset the running cost associated with the Youth Club, which is held regularly at the venue. This helps the Youth Club to move towards some degree of self-sufficiency.
Unfortunately during the enforced Covid closures, all the stock held by the Café is now unusable.
Saddleworth Rotary Club agreed a £200 donation made to YOLO specifically to restock the Café so it could re-open and continue to provide an income to offset the cost of rent and other costs associated with providing support to the young people of Saddleworth at the Satellite Centre.
Dr Ian Brett, President of the Saddleworth Rotary Club, said: “As long time supporters of YOLO and the work it does with young people in Saddleworth, when Club members heard about the loss of Café stock it was a relatively easy decision to make a small donation, which should in time allow the charity to re-establish its former model of using Café profits to help with providing those services.”
Helen Bishop, on behalf of the Charity, said: “We are grateful for the continued support of the Saddleworth Rotary Club in helping us to provide much needed activities for our local young people.”
