A Chadderton school has improved significantly according to its latest ungraded Ofsted inspection.
St Herbert’s Primary on Edward Street, has continued to improve across all areas since its last full inspection.
During their visit to the school, Ofsted inspectors noted that the leaders had established the school mission ‘strong faith, hope and love for the common good’.
This mission statement encouraged staff and pupils to strive together for the highest moral and academic standards.
His Majesty’s Inspector, Jen Sloan, said in the report: “Pupils know their contribution to the school and the wider community matters.
“They are rightly proud of the difference that they make. St Herbert’s is an exceptional school and a happy place in which to learn.
“Pupils flourish academically and personally. Staff are ambitious for pupils and the school places no limits on pupils’ development.”
Inspectors highlighted that the school established a curriculum that enabled them to acquire deep knowledge of the subjects they study.
Pupils' behaviour and conduct were highly praised along with the education provided for those with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).
Inspectors applauded pupils’ reading skills, adding: “Reading is everywhere in this school. If pupils struggle to master it, they receive effective support to help them to catch up quickly.
“The school makes sure that pupils receive a rich range of opportunities to explore their interests and take part in a range of school performances.
“Those responsible for school governance know the school well. They use their experience to challenge and support leaders in equal measure. The school ensures that this support has a positive impact on pupils’ learning while considering workload and well-being for all staff. The arrangements for safeguarding also effective.”
This was the school's second ungraded inspection since it was judged to be good for overall effectiveness back in June 2015.
