Staff at Dogs Trust Manchester are inviting dog lovers to a Discovery Day to showcase the many different aspects of their work and shine a spotlight on some of their Underdogs.
The Denton-based rehoming centre on Parkway cares for more than 80 dogs at any one time. Some of the dogs find their forever homes within a matter of days, but others take a little longer to discover their perfect match, and at the event, those Underdogs will take centre stage.
The Discovery Day, for anyone who wants to know more about the work of Dogs Trust Manchester, is on Saturday 29 March, 12pm-4pm. It will include tours of the centre, a presentation about what it takes to find forever homes for dogs who need additional support and rehoming parades in the agility ring where some of the centre’s Underdogs will strut their stuff and demonstrate how they could be the perfect canine companion in the right home.
Nicola Hardman, Supporter Relations Officer and organiser of the event, says:
“We love meeting people who love dogs as much as we do! It’s really important to us that people get an insight into why dogs find themselves with us and why sometimes it takes longer than average for a dog to head off to a new home.
“We get to know our dogs really well and this is a chance for people to chat, ask questions and find out whatever it is they’d like to know about our work and our gorgeous dogs.”
Parking and entry are free. There will be refreshments as well as a Dogs Trust merchandise stall and information stands with specialists on hand to talk about everything from our Home from Home dog fostering scheme to our work in the community and how we can help owners with training and behaviour issues they are facing with their four-legged friend.
There is no need to book in advance; people can turn up between 12pm and 4pm. If you have any queries or would like to know more, please contact Nicola on nicola.hardman@dogstrust.org.uk or call 0161 337 3605.
