Emergency services are investigating after a fire broke out at a bakery in Oldham this morning (Tuesday).
Five fire engines were despatched to The Park Cake Bakeries on Ashton Road just after 5am.
Greater Manchester Police and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) are still at the scene as they seek to establish what caused the blaze, which started in the bakery's storage area and led to staff being evacuated.
A GMFRS statement read: "Just after 5am today, Tuesday, January 21, Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service (GMFRS) was called to reports of a fire at a bakery on Ashton Road at the junction of the A6104 Hathershaw Lane in Oldham.
"Five fire engines from Blackley, Littleborough, Oldham, Hollins and Chadderton stations were quickly on the scene and firefighters soon established the blaze involved pallets and other materials in a ground floor storage area.
"Crews used five ventilation fans, six breathing apparatus and two jets and soon got on top of the flames.
"GMFRS is still in attendance on Ashton Road but we are in the process of reducing the number of fire engines at the scene to one as we look to make the incident safe and finish firefighting."
