Innovative ace fundraiser Steve Hill MBE will be pounding the streets of Oldham to raise funds for needy children in Uganda.
Mr Hill, deputy head of St Joseph’s primary school in Shaw, should have been taking part in the Uganda Marathon but the pandemic has lead to its cancellation.
But on Saturday 5 June, he will be running his own virtual Uganda Marathon in Saddleworth, Moorside and Oldham to help get children back to school in Masaka.
Steve said: "I should have actually been back in Uganda - supporting a number of charity projects and running the marathon.
"Children have missed over a year of school and there's no Zoom classrooms in Masaka either. Students in their key final years have missed exam preparation.
"Many families cannot afford the mandatory school fees. And many schools themselves cannot afford the government examination fees, or mandatory PPE requirements for staff.
"Children who miss their final year and exams - leaving school without qualifications - will face these setbacks for their entire lives. So I’m helping raise money to get classrooms open and children learning again.”
He added: “Please help support them by donating at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Steve-Hill-7."
