Gang of muggers attack teenage boy in Oldham town centre in bid to steal his phone

A teenage boy was attacked by a gang of men trying to steal his phone.

The attack happened at a tram stop on Kings Street in Oldham Town Centre, on January 17, at 4.30pm.

The 16-year-old boy, had been on a tram traveling from King Street tram stop in Oldham Town Centre where he was speaking to an unknown man.

Detectives believe they both got off the tram two stops later at Freehold tram stop in Oldham. The unknown man took a phone call and then walked down the stairs of the tram stops where three men were waiting near the bike sheds.

The victim was then pushed to the floor before being punched repeatedly and being asked for his phone.

The victim attended hospital with injuries to his face, hands and knees where he received treatment.

Officers are appealing for help to identify the man pictured as he may be able to help with enquiries.
