Hulme Grammar School Oldham is staging a prep careers fair designed to introduce young pupils to the world of work.

The event is all set to take place on Wednesday, April 24, for children, aged seven to 11 years and will welcome students from Hulme Grammar's Prep School and pupils from local primary schools, offering a unique opportunity to explore a variety of career paths.

It will feature professionals from a diverse range of sectors, including the arts, sport, law, dentistry, entrepreneurship, science, politics, and media.

Local businesses, alumni, and partners of Hulme Grammar School—such as The Palace Theatre, Oldham Athletic, Addleshaw Goddard, Manchester Biomedical Research and Greater Manchester Fire Service—will share insights into their professions through hands-on activities, engaging discussions, and real-world demonstrations.

Katie Flett, Head of Futures at Hulme Grammar School, shared her excitement about the event: "At Hulme Grammar School, we begin career education early.

"It’s important for young people to get an understanding of the variety and vast number of opportunities open to them that could inspire a passion or create an interest.

“This fair is a fantastic opportunity for our KS2 pupils and those from the wider community to explore different professions, meet inspiring role models, and start thinking about the possibilities ahead."

She added: “By engaging with professionals from a wide range of industries, pupils will develop essential skills like communication, problem-solving, and creativity, building their confidence in making informed choices about their futures.

“Hulme Grammar School remains committed to fostering ambition and aspiration in all its students.

“The prep careers fair forms part of the school's broader strategy to deliver high-quality career education and strengthen connections with the local business community.”
