Police have arrested a 50-year-old man on suspicion of modern slavery and money laundering offences.
Officers from GMP’s Modern Slavery and Organised Immigration Crime Unit, with help from Serious Organised Crime Groups and district officers, carried out two warrants, one in north Manchester and one in Oldham yesterday (Tues) morning.
The arrest comes after an ongoing investigation into modern slavery in Greater Manchester.
The suspect remains in custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Abigail Thomas said: "Modern slavery is an appalling crime with no place in our communities - exploiting vulnerable people for profit is unacceptable.
“We encourage anyone who is a victim of this crime or suspect someone they know could be to report it so we can take action.
“If you are concerned about criminal activity within your area, you can report this to us directly on 101 or by reporting information using our online report tool at www.gmp.police.uk. Always dial 999 in an emergency.”
Alternatively reports can be made via the Modern Slavery Helpline on 08000 121 700 or at https://orlo.uk/xRi2g or via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
