Residents are being invited to join the Mayor of Oldham for an evening of entertainment and fundraising, to support a host of local charities at the borough's annual Civic and Charity Ball.
The event takes place on Friday 4 March at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and tickets are still on sale, with all proceeds raised going to the Mayor’s Appeal Fund.
On the night, guests will be welcomed by a champagne reception, followed by a delicious four-course dinner as they settle in for a variety of amusement.
Local star Stuart Beech, who came to fame as ‘The Singing Pilot’ on Michael McIntyre’s The Big Show on BBC One, will be performing, alongside electronic violinist Yulia Shah, and guests will also enjoy a glittering disco to have a chance at showing off their best dancing moves.
A tombola, raffle and charity auction will then take place to raise more money for the Mayor’s chosen charities.
These include Age UK Oldham (Out and About Club), Andy’s Man Club, Inspiring Futures Partnership CIC (Inspire Women Oldham), Maggie’s Oldham, Oldham Street Angels, POINT, Terence O’Grady Social Club and UKEFF (UK Education & Faith Foundation).
The Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Jenny Harrison, said: “This event is such an important gathering as it really goes a long way to supporting some incredible local charities which are dear to my heart.
“They all do some incredible work for people of all backgrounds and circumstances across Oldham and it would be fantastic to raise as much money as we can for them, as they all thoroughly deserve it.
“We have a great line-up of entertainment in store for our guests, including some amazing food, and I can’t wait to see everyone all dressed up and to join them for a wonderful evening.
“Thank you to everyone who has already supported this event so far, I am truly grateful for your contributions as are my chosen charities.”
Tickets can be bought at £40 per person, with the invitation extended to family, friends, and colleagues.
Sales close on Friday 18 February, so if you are interested in attending, email Mayors.office@oldham.gov.uk or call 0161 770 4012 to book your place.
