A private day nursery in Oldham is celebrating after receiving a glowing Ofsted report.
Appledore Day Nursery on Rock Street, Egerton House, has been awarded outstanding in all five areas of the inspection including; overall effectiveness, the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.
In the report, inspectors noted that staff knew children extremely well and adapted their interactions and routines to ensure those who needed extra support or who were new received one-to-one attention from staff to swiftly help them to form strong attachments.
Ofsted found that the children had access to outdoor facilities which had a positive impact on their ability to regulate their emotions, settle and concentrate for longer periods of time.
Staff at the nursery were described as “exceptional role models and remarkable at supporting children to understand and manage their emotions and to learn how to show respect for others using impeccable manners”.
Childrens’ behaviour was described as “exemplary”, which resulted in a harmonious, inclusive environment where all children were confident and independent learners ready to explore the world.
The leadership team was praised for driving excellence in the nursery and the report stated that since its last inspection, the team had implemented an exceptional curriculum that purposefully enhanced children’s physical development.
Ofsted applauded the support given to help children’s communication and language and praised the nursery’s diversity, which promoted an appreciation of each child’s uniqueness within the wider community.
Support for children with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) was also hailed as outstanding.
Ofsted Inspector Sheron Kantor said: “Leaders have established a robust system for training and coaching staff, ensuring continuous improvement.
“They identify areas for growth and value feedback from children, parents and professionals.
“Staff morale and commitment to their roles are high, as staff know their value as part of the team. This means that children benefit from consistently strong teaching by motivated and skilled staff and make excellent progress.”
Nicola Dixon, manager at Appledore Nursery said: “We are absolutely elated that our hard work and dedication from our fantastic team has been recognised to ensure that all children receive the best start in their early education.”
