Oldham Athletic hosted a special iftar dinner for local guests and dignitaries.

Boundary Park came under the spotlight as it staged its third iftar – breaking of the fast meal- at the Broadway Suite last night.

Dinner was served after a local Imam, Obaid Hussain read a few verses from the holy Quran watched by members of the wider communities including Oldham Athletic Chairman, Frank Rothwell and his wife Judith, CEO, Darren Royle and other club members.

Following the opening speeches, the call to prayer took place in the Joe Royle Stand, before guests returned to the main suite for dinner.

A spokesperson for the club said: "The event was really successful with around 60 people in attendance."

The fast during Ramadan is broken at sunset with fresh dates and then moving onto a delicious meal.

The event and food were sponsored by Equity Law Chambers, Oldham Greenhill Community Sports and Recreation Club, The Grill and AI Catering.
