A local business has helped to ensure that frontline care home staff and social care workers in Oldham will be well protected in the weeks ahead.
CarePoint, a provider of community-based support and housing services within Oldham, kindly donated 10 pallets containing alcohol content hand sanitisers, anti-bacterial alcohol wipes and reusable machine washable face masks.
The donation worth £100,000 was delivered to Oldham Council, who then distributed the equipment to those who need it most.
CarePoint work with a number of different organisations to make a positive contribution in supporting and housing the most vulnerable in our community.
The firm reached out to the council after they read that Oldham was suffering some of the highest coronavirus rates in the country.
Zeb Iqbal, from CarePoint, said: “People I know have lost loved ones due to this unprecedented pandemic and so anything we can do to help is important.
"CarePoint would like to thank Oldham Council for the unprecedented effort to keep the people of Oldham safe. We have seen at first hand the fantastic service and work that has been delivered by Oldham Council and its front-line staff."
Councillor Arooj Shah, Oldham Council Deputy Leader, said: “On behalf of Oldham residents I would like to thank CarePoint for making this sizeable donation of PPE equipment.
“I would also like to thank Chadderton based firm DP Firth Transport who delivered the ten pallets. We are still in the tough battle with the Coronavirus but it is selfless donations like this that can help us win the battle so thank you.”
