
Police officers are appealing for information about an assault and theft that are believed to be linked and which occurred on September 23, 2023, in Oldham.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has only just released details of the incident in an appeal for witnesses.
At approximately 12:30pm, on the Saturday, a group of five youths entered the Asda Supermarket on Greenfield Lane in Shaw, Oldham, and stole a large amount of toys.
On leaving the store, the group also assaulted an elderly lady by pushing her to the ground.
The offenders have been described as three white males wearing black coats and dark trousers – two of whom were wearing hats and one who had longer dark hair and a fur hood.
The fourth male was mixed race and wore a brown coat with his hood up and dark trousers. The fifth male had yellow/blonde hair and was wearing a blue coat and light trousers
AS police spokesman said: “This was a nasty assault on a woman who was simply doing her weekly shopping and was walking home. She was injured and has been left incredibly shaken up by the incident.
“We are treating the assault and theft as linked and are appealing to the public for information.
