
Police are investigating reports that three masked men set fire to a car in Oldham in the early hours of the morning.
Police said it happened on Ripponden Road at around 4am on Saturday (3 September).
While the fire was quickly extinguished, the car was left with significant damage.
Enquiries are ongoing and detectives are currently treating the fire as arson, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson has confirmed.
Chief Inspector Abigail Cronin, of Greater Manchester Police Neighbourhood Partnerships in Oldham, said: “This was a shocking incident which put members of the public at risk.
“Thankfully no one was badly injured, and the incident appears to have been isolated. Such reckless behaviour however will absolutely not be tolerated, and we are committed to finding those responsible.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Shortly before 4am on Saturday 3 September, firefighters were called out to a vehicle fire on Ripponden Road, Oldham.
“A fire engine from Oldham Fire Station attended the scene but the owner of the vehicle had already put the fire out with a fire extinguisher.”
