
Oasis Academy Leesbrook opened its doors to over 300 guests for its first ever iftar dinner.
The school on Roxbury Avenue, welcomed dignitaries, parents, students and staff to reinforce the importance of inclusivity, togetherness, and shared values within their community.
The event provided the perfect opportunity for guests to come together and break the fast and share in the spirit of Ramadan.
Tarique Rafique (MBE), Secretary of the Oldham Mosques Council, joined the event and spoke of the importance of unity and reflection during the holy month.
As the time to break the fast approached, a local ImamTahir Bagdadi led the community in prayer. Pupil Danyal recited a Quranic verse watched by proud family and staff.
Headteacher, Mrs Andrea Mitchell said: “I could not be more humbled by the opportunity to share such a special time with our wonderful community.
“It was our pleasure to host the very first Leesbrook Iftar, a signal to our families and wider community of just how committed we are to inclusion.
“Our Oasis Trust is built upon the ethos of providing exceptional education, working alongside remarkable people, in turn strengthening communities.
“This will indeed be an annual event and one we will be proud to host. This event was a beautiful reminder of the strong bond between our school and the families we serve.
"We are incredibly proud of this event and look forward to continuing to build and celebrate these connections in the future."
