Happy go lucky visitors took a joyous trip to the seaside without ever leaving the hills of Saddleworth.
And the remarkable efforts by the dedicated fund raising team-Friends of Diggle School (FODS)-who organised the fete have netted more than £4,000 for the school.
The fete, themed as “Diggle on sea” by the organisers, offered an wider variety of delights and drew record crowds.
Tracy Buckley, a spokesperson for FODS said: “The fete was a real all-village affair involving local businesses and other interested parties. We encouraged everyone to take part and enjoy themselves .
“There were games, stalls with prizes to be won, raffle with big prizes, bottle stall, cake stall and arts and crafts.
“We had three large inflatables for the kids and a face painter. There were be lots of different presentations throughout the day such as the school choir, sports, dancing.
“Diggle Band played and a all-day cafe, bar, live music and a BBQ were popular.
“There was lots of fabulous things to see and do.The Morris men , a brilliant Punch and Judy show , lots of great live music as well as the school choir and band.
“The stalls were all a huge success with the most popular being Splat the teacher, The Human Fruit Machine and the coconut shy.”
