Suspected drug dealers arrested in Derker

Liquid seized during the arrest by Operation Vulcan.

Three men in possession of drugs were arrested after police from Operation Vulcan spotted a car being driven without insurance.

When stopped by police some of the occupants of the vehicle appeared to be under the influence of drugs, and following a search of the car, a baseball bat and over £1000 cash was recovered on Tuesday night.

Officers also found unidentified liquid in several packages – believed to be THC.

In the footwell of the car, three mobile phones were found with messages saying, ‘are you still selling liquid?’

Three men, aged 18, 19, and 21 were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

The 19-year-old offender was also arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

Inspector Dan Cullum from Operation Vulcan said: “Thanks to the vigilance of officers on patrol in Derker, we have been able to seize drugs that would have been destined for our streets and the arrest of three people.

“Those involved in the supply of drugs in this community are not only helping to sustain an illicit trade which relies on exploitation, violence, and intimidation, but it is directly impacting the quality of the lives of those who are hardworking and law abiding.

“Our operation is in the early stages, but we’re already making an impact on the criminality in the area, showing the criminals, they have nowhere to hide.”

In three weeks since launching Operation Vulcan, officers have made 22 arrests, seized 13 cars being driven criminally or anti-socially, seized five weapons, and large quantities of drugs.
