Two men quizzed over attempted murder after shooting and stabbing

A major police investigation has been launched after a man turned up at A&E with gunshot wounds.

At around 8.30pm  on Wednesday, police were called by colleagues at Royal Oldham Hospital A&E department after a man presented himself with serious injuries that have now been confirmed to be gunshot wounds to his arms.

Through initial CCTV enquiries, detectives have established that a disturbance took place on Busk Road in Oldham.

Another male was found at this location having suffered from stab injuries.

Two men aged 22 and 29 have been arrested on suspicion of attempt murder. Both are currently in hospital being treated for their injuries.

Det Insp Alex Wilkinson from Greater Manchester Police's Major Incident Team, said: "This was a serious incident that has left two men injured in hospital.

"Our enquiries are in their initial stages at the moment, and we are working extremely hard to ascertain the facts and build a thorough timeline of events that led up to the disturbance on Busk Road, but we believe this is an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public.

"We would appeal for anyone with information to come forward and assist us with our investigation.

“Our response so far has included increased patrols in the immediate area to reassure the community and this will continue over the coming days whilst we remain at the scene to investigate.

“Anyone with details that may help us in our investigation are asked to get in touch, as we know there could be a number of potential witnesses to this  incident.”
