Woman left with life-threatening injuries after suspected hit and run

A woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a suspected hit and run in Oldham.

At around 2.40am on Sunday (20 September), police were called to Lees Road following reports that a person was lying in the road.

A woman in her 30s was taken to hospital with what police have described as life-threatening injuries.

They say her next of kin has been informed and an investigation is under way.

Inspector Danny Byrne, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "Firstly, I would like to say that our thoughts are with the victim and her loved ones as she continues to receive treatment in hospital.

"Enquiries are ongoing but we believe that the victim was hit by a vehicle which failed to stop at the scene.

"I would like to use this opportunity to appeal to anyone with information or dash cam footage from the surrounding area at the time to share it with us so we can establish the full circumstances of this incident."

Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 4741, quoting 479 of 20/09/20 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
