2022 - A year to remember in sport

2022 will forever be remembered as an incredible year for sport, a year that will be etched into the history books and worshipped as a catalyst for change.

Nationally, the Lionesses infiltrated the minds of football fans across the country, destroying outdated conceptions and giving girls the opportunity to play the beautiful game.

In the summer, athletes from a range of sports joined to celebrate the Commonwealth Games, earning hundreds of medals for England.

Sports fanatics locally had a lot to be proud of too, as the boroughs closed off on a monumental year of sport.

Katie Catherall takes a look back over 12 memorable months of sporting achievements across Tameside and Glossop, plus shares her own brilliant experience at BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
