A hat-trick of wins for Dinting Cricket Club

Dinting CC U11's

On Sunday July 14, Hollingworth CC hosted the D&CCL under 11’s Finals Day, where Dinting CC defeated New Mills by 44 runs in the Semi-Final, going on to beat Old Glossop in the Final thanks to a great all-round team display and a very special hattrick, including four wickets in four balls from Fynn Knight.

The victory was made all the more special by the fact that six of the Finals Day squad had come through the Allstars or Dynamos programmes Dinting CC have run very successfully for five years now and helped Dinting CC retain the u11’s title for the second consecutive season.

The following Sunday (July 21), Dinting CC under 13’s were also triumphant on the D&CCL u13’s Finals Day held at Hazel Grove CC, defeating a very good High Lane CC team in the Semi-Final and then their only defeaters from this season, Hayfield CC, in the Final. This was Dinting CC’s second successive under 13’s Finals Day triumph following last season’s emphatic victory at High Lane CC.

Last night Wednesday (July 24), Dinting Cricket Club under 15’s defeated hosts Buxworth in their toughest game of the season to clinch the Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League under 15’s Division 1 title. The win follows on from their 2022 triumph but was made all the sweeter by the seeding of the leagues mid-season meaning the top teams played against each other with Dinting playing 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place away from home, winning all three games and only falling to a narrow defeat to Hawk Green earlier this month. The under 15’s team boasts a wealth of homegrown talent, with all players having come through the Dinting CC junior set-up and Riley Knight, Jacob Townley, and Reuben Wood going on to represent their respective Districts for Cheshire Cricket Board.

Three age group victories have never been achieved in the D&CCL since the inauguration of the U11’s age group in 1999. This historic treble is a testament to the hard work of the coaches, managers, players, and parents throughout this season, and previous season! A big mention must go to departing Junior Coordinator, Matt Parker who had the vision to set in place a ‘5-year development Plan’ back in 2021. This plan has been achieved and it is now up to new club Head Coach, James Lythgoe to continue to set the bar high and drive Dinting CC to the next level at both junior and senior cricket.

Dinting CC under 19’s still have the chance to add to the junior silverware and are in a good place to do so having qualified for u19’s Finals Day, winning every game on the way. The U19’s Finals Day will take place on Sunday September 8, venue TBC.

Club Chairman, Martyn Knight said: “I couldn’t be prouder of the club in this amazing achievement and there is so much more to come. The standard of junior cricket I have witnessed at every age group in the Derbyshire & Cheshire Cricket League this year is completely unrivalled locally and everyone involved should be very proud of this. For our 3 age groups (possibly 4) to be top of their respective piles is a great accolade to have and thanks and plaudits should go out to the coaches, managers, parents, and players who have made huge sacrifices to make this achievement possible. The future of cricket is in very safe hands both at Dinting CC and across the D&CCL!”
