Ashton United have bolstered their attacking options with the arrival of Marcus Carver, who joins on loan from National League North side Southport.
The 31-year-old will provide Steve Cunningham’s side with some much-needed depth in forward areas between now and the end of the season, as they look to secure a NPL Premier play-off spot.
The former Chorley man has made 29 appearances for The Port this season, scoring two goals and registering five assists.
Carver also has 55 League Two appearances to his name which he racked up during his time with Accrington Stanley and Hartlepool United, and will bring a wealth of experience to Hurst Cross.
Following his signing, Cunningham told The Reporter:
“Marcus' CV speaks for itself.
“He’s a proven goal scorer, and his experience will be invaluable for us going forward.
“We’ve got some great forward players, but we just wanted to add to that firepower, and hopefully Marcus can give us something a little bit different.
"We've worked hard to get into the play-offs, it's just about that final push now, and hopefully Marcus can help us in that regard."
The number nine will be hoping to make his Robins debut this weekend away at Leek Town.
