Manchester City former players football team has raised millions for local and national charities for the last thirty years.
The three-man organisation team that co-ordinates the fundraising matches includes a member from Stockport Peter Barnes, Allan Grafton MBE from Manchester and Derek Partridge from Denton.
The Manchester City former players football team play approximately six football charity matches in the summer per year and has raised millions of pounds over the years. Allan is from Manchester FA, Peter is a former footballer for Manchester City, Manchester United & England and manager of the team Derek Partridge is the former Macclesfield Town FC manager who lived in Denton.
In February Derek sadly passed away but he had worked with Allan to arrange a charity match for Tameside NHS Hospitals to be played at Hyde United FC. The event was to be planned when it's safe to do so and when they can get a good crowd into the ground to raise the funds. This game, which only needs a date, will be called Celebrating The Life Of Colin Bell & Remembering Derek Partridge. The game will see Manchester City former players who will be playing against a team from the British Army in this special match. The game will also be screened by Manchester City tv and will take place on Sunday August 1st. The match will be played at Ewen Fields, with kick-off at 2pm. There will be a two minute silence to remember those who have lost their lives to Covid and all proceeds will be donated to the NHS in Tameside.
