Professional boxer Charlie Schofield   delivered a sensational performance last weekend to win the English Super Middleweight title.

The 28-year-old showed his metal in Sheffield’s Steel City by beating Mickey Ellison, via unanimous decision,  live on Fightzone TV, in the Sheffield Arena Car Park.

Victory brought an end to a frustrating peiod for Charlie, from Droylsden, due to the stop-start nature of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The personal trainer, who is now 16-1 and based at Ultimate Fitness in Stalybridge, will be hoping to kick on and put his name in lights as 2021 progresses.

Following the victory, Charlie thanked his followers and uploaded the following statement: “I am now the English Super Middleweight Champion.

“A huge thank you to everyone around me, the list is endless. But mainly Rob Rimmer and Bobby Gervis my two coaches and my manager Kevin Maree for all of their hard work and dedication.

“A huge shout-out to SlimBox- FitCatering for helping me make 168Ib at ease. And a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who was supporting me.

“I am looking forward to working with Dennis Hobson Promotions and Fightzone TV as we work even harder towards bigger titles.”
