Manchester City have been handed a tough draw in the Champions League as they will face Real Madrid in the round of sixteen stage.
Manchester City topped their group and are the only English side who are still unbeaten in the competition. Real Madrid qualified as runners up in their group behind PSG but they will not be an easy task for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
Real Madrid sit second in the La Liga table on goal difference and have endured a difficult 2019 after winning no silverware and struggling to compete at European level after having won an unprecedented three Champions Leagues in a row.
City haven’t been at their best so far this season as they sit 14 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool which is the most Guardiola biggest gap of Guardiola’s career.
The Citizens have never beaten Real Madrid after four attempts involving two draws and two wins.
The first legs will be played on 18, 19, 25 and 26 February with the return matches on 10, 11, 17 and 18 March.
This season's final is on 30 May at the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul, the ground where Liverpool won the epic 2005 match against AC Milan.
