Close encounters make for an exciting week in the DCCL

First Division matches were played on Saturday 20th July, with a start time of 1pm for 45 overs a side.

There were some rain affected matches, but all were concluded. The fight for points in the league made some of these fixtures hotly contended and very hard fought.

Broadbottom CC vs Tintwistle CC

The home side won the toss and elected to bat first. Broadbottom made an impressive 305-7 (45) with opener A.Walsh top scoring on 76 runs, D. Perrin on 64 not out, and S.Croft on 57 runs. Their overall total was boosted by 40 extras, mainly wides. Tintwistle’s D.Weston took 3 wickets (3-60 from 12 overs, 1 maiden). In response, Tintwistle came up short (with what would otherwise be a fine score) making 207 all out (42.3) with M.Mayne on 53 runs. They were also aided by 29 extras. Broady’s D.Perrin took a 4 wicket haul (4-47 from 11 overs, 1 maiden). Broadbottom won by 98 runs. [Broadbottom 20 points, Tintwistle 8 points]

Hayfield CC vs Pott Shrigley CC

Pott Shrigley won the toss and elected to field first, putting Hayfield in to bat. Hayfield made 248 all out (45) with a solid middle order spell from R.Evans (52 runs) J.Wyatt (51 runs) and O.Wyatt (41 runs). Pott Shrigley’s P.Beard took 4-59 (8) and A. Matheson took 3-52 (12) including 1 maiden. In response, Pott Shrigley could only reach 151 all out (41). Hayfield’s A.Ostilly took 5-54 (11) giving Hayfield the win by 97 runs. [Hayfield 20 points, Pott Shrigley 8 points]

Hazel Grove CC vs Newton CC

The home side won the toss and elected to field first. Newton made 88 all out (30.3). In response, Hazel Grove made 89-5 (28.2) and took the win by 5 wickets. [Hazel Grove 17 points, Newton 2 points]

New Mills CC vs Stalybrigde CC

The home side won the toss and elected to field first, putting Stalybridge in to bat. Stalybridge made 164-9 (45) with opener M.Collins in for the long haul, top scoring on 44 not out (from 113 balls). There were 3 wickets each for New Mills’ M.Birchenall (3-26 from 10 overs, 3 maidens) and S.Kilner (3-29 from 12 overs, 4 maidens). In response, New Mills made 167-6 (33.3) aided by a fabulous knock from C.Firth who made 96 not out. New Mills won by 4 wickets. [New Mills 19 points, Stalybridge 6 points]

Old Glossop CC vs Dove Holes CC

In this top of the table clash, the home side won the toss and elected to bat first. Old Glossop made 150 all out (42.5) with J.Kay top scoring on 25 runs. Dove’s D.Gilbride was on fire, taking 5-53 (12) including 2 maidens. In response, Dove Holes made 153-7 (36.2) with J.Gregory and T.Forder both top scoring on 45 runs each. Old Glossop’s R.Adderley took 3-20 (7) with 1 maiden. Dove Holes won by 3 wickets. [Old Glossop 6 points, Dove Holes 19 points]

Whaley Bridge CC vs Dinting CC

Dinting won the toss and elected to field first, putting the home side in to bat. Whaley Bridge made 173-9 (45) aided by L.Jones who top scored on 73 runs. Dinting’s N.Singh took a cracking haul of 5-46 (12) including 2 maidens. In response, Dinting made 146 all out (39) with T.H.George top scoring on 30 runs. There were 3 wickets each for Whaley’s J.Higginbotham (3-

T20 Quarter Finals

These fixtures were played on Sunday 21st July at 2pm. The winners of which were after a place at T20 Finals Day.

Whaley Bridge CC vs High Lane CC

High Lane won the toss and elected to bat first. High Lane made 103-7 (20) with opener A.Melnyk top scoring on 27. In response, Whaley Bridge made 105-3 (15.5) with J.Higginbotham on 52 runs, and H.Holden on 31 not out. Whaley Bridge won by 7 wickets.

Old Glossop CC vs Broadbottom CC

Broadbottom won the toss and elected to field first. Old Glossop made 138-5 with A.Kalavagunta making 71 runs. Broadbottom’s T.Gull took 3 wickets (3-17 from 4 overs). In response, Broadbottom made 102 all out (17.4) with three wickets each for Old Glossop’s T.Lane (3-16 from 4 overs) and R.Adderley (3-16 from 2.4 overs). Old Glossop won by 36 runs.

Newton CC vs Hayfield CC

Newton won the toss and elected to field first. Hayfield made 122-7 (20) In response Newton could only reach 67 all out (15.1) Hayfield won by 55 runs.

Hazel Grove CC vs Dove Holes CC

To be played on Tuesday 23rd July at 18:00pm.

Whaley Bridge, Old Glossop and Hayfield will be joined by the winner of Hazel Grove CC vs Dove Holes CC in the T20 Finals Day, held on Sunday 25th August to be held at Chapel en le Frith CC.
