Curzon bow out of Manchester Premier Cup

Manchester Premier Cup quarter-final: Curzon Ashton 0-1 Avro

Manchester Premier Cup champions Curzon Ashton were knocked out of the competition at the first hurdle on Tuesday night, as near neighbours Avro ran out 1-0 winners at the Tameside Stadium.

Curzon entered the competition at this stage due to their position as reigning champions, whilst Avro beat Radcliffe 5-2 in the first round last month.

Despite the three division gulf between the sides, Avro took the surprise victory thanks to Liam Ellis' strike in the 34th minute.

Avro will now move into the semi-final and could face the winner of one of the following quarter-final ties to be played in the coming weeks:

Mossley v Ashton United

West Didsbury & Chorlton v Hyde United

Bury v Trafford
