DCCL goes ahead despite poor weather

Feeling more like winter than summer, the unseasonal weather slightly dampened spirits for this weekend’s fixtures in the Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League, sponsored by Complete Weed Control. League matches (45 overs a side) were played 8th June 2024 at 1pm.

Cup matches followed on Sunday 9^th, with some affected by rain.

Broadbottom CC vs Hayfield CC

Broadbottom won the toss and elected to bat first. The home side made 134 all out (36.4) with Noman Ghous top scoring on 31 runs. Hayfield’s James Adamson took 3-18 from 5 overs. In response, Hayfield struggled to reach 95 all out (34) with Harry Wyatt top scoring on 38 (from 80 balls). Broadbottom won by 39 runs. [Broadbottom 17 points, Hayfield 5 points]

Hazel Grove CC vs Pott Shrigley CC

Pott Shrigley won the toss and elected to field first. Hazel Grove made 126 all out (37.3). In response, Pott Shrigley made 84 all out (29.2). Hazel Grove won by 42 runs. [Hazel Grove 17 points. Pott Shrigley 5 points]

Newton CC vs Dinting CC

Dinting won the toss and elected to bat first.  Dinting made 224-7 (45) with Alfie Joy on 51 runs and James Lythgoe on 45 runs. Dinting’s overall score was aided by some wayward bowling by Newton, gifting 48 extras. There were 4 wickets for Newton’s Paul Littlewood; 4-29 from 12 overs (4 maidens). In response, Newton made 101 all out (32.5) with Callum Williams top scoring on 27 runs.  Some in-form bowling from Thomas Pugh who took 4-11 from 9 overs (5 maidens) and Ryan Nixon who took 3-38 from 12 overs (4 maidens).  Dinting won by 123 runs. Old Glossop CC vs New Mills CC

Old Glossop won the toss and elected to bat first.  Old Glossop made 281-3 (45) with Callan Kean hitting a boundary busting 128 runs (including 18 fours and 4 sixes) backed up by Jehrome Sagar on 86 not out (including 10 fours and 3 sixes). Daniel Holmes took 2 of the three wickets (2-73). In response, New Mills struggled to make 67 all out (28.3) in the face of a ferocious bowling spell from Akhil Kalavagunta who took 5-4 from 7 overs (5 maidens). Old Glossop won by 214 runs. Tintwistle CC vs Dove Holes CC

Tintwistle won the toss and elected to bat first.  The home side could only make a disappointing 59 all out (25.1). In response, Dove Holes were after a quick finish and it took them just 12.1 overs to reach their target, making 61-3, with Shaun Cartledge top scoring on 27 not out. Tom Scott took 2 of the 3 wickets (2-6 from 2.1 overs including 1 maiden). Dove Holes won by 7 wickets. [Tintwistle 1 point. Dove Holes 18 points]

Whaley Bridge CC vs Stalybridge CC

Stalybridge won the toss and elected to bat first.  Stalybridge made 163 all out (41.2) with Captain Richard Wright top scoring on 39 runs. Whaley’s Eddie Ford took 4-29 from 9 overs (2 maidens) and Jake Higginbotham took 3-36 from 12 overs (2 maidens). In response, Whaley Bridge made 164-6 (35) thanks to solid knocks from opening batsman George Holden who scored 66 (including 8 fours and 3 sixes) and Lee Jones on 49 not out (including 7 fours). Stalybridge’s Gary Sandiford took 3 wickets (3-15 from 7). Whaley Bridge won by 4 wickets. [Whaley Bridge 20 points. Stalybridge 6 points]

Pott Shrigley CC vs Hayfield CC. Pott Shrigley won the toss and elected to bat first. Pott Shrigley made 75 all out (26.1). Hayfield 76 all out (8). Hayfield won by 10 wickets.

Tintwistle CC vs Hazel Grove CC.Hazel Grove won the toss and elected to field. Tintwistle made 141 all out (38.5). Hazel Grove made 52 all out (20.3). Tintwistle won by 89 runs.

Dove Holes vs Broadbottom CC and Whaley Bridge CC vs Old Glossop CC. Both matches rescheduled due to weather, now to be played on Sunday 16th June 2024.

Quarter Final matches played on Sunday 9^th June at 1pm, 40 overs a side.

Dinting CC vs Tintwistle CC. Dinting won the toss and elected to bat first. Dinting made 172-4 (40). Tintwistle made 150 all out. Dinting won by 22 runs.

New Mills CC vs Newton CC. Newton won the toss and elected to field first. New Mills made 64 all out (29.5). Newton made 65-1 (12.2). Newton won by 9 wickets.

Old Glossop CC vs High Lane CC. Old Glossop won the toss and elected to field first. High Lane made 83 all out (25.1). Old Glossop made 86.1 (11.1). Old Glossop won by 9 wickets.
