Denton continue to lead the Stalybridge Snooker League

Stalybridge Snooker League secretary, Ian Hopton, provides the latest developments as Denton continue to top the league.

After week 6, Denton were top of the whist League and Snooker League, and week seven saw St Peters travel to Hyde Club, Denton go to Mossley B and Staly Labour host Staley Vegas.

There were wins in the Snooker of 4-1 for St Peters and Mossley B, while Staly Labour won 3-2. St Peters now have 22 points and lead the table. In the Whist League, now sponsored by Zeros of Stalybridge, there were wins for Hyde Club, Denton and Staly Labour. Denton still lead this league. 

Week 8 saw Mossley B play Staly Labour, Staly Vegas host St Peters and Hyde Club host Denton CC. There were 3-2 wins for Denton, Staly Vegas and Staly Labour. These results mean that St Peters are tied with Denton on 24 points. In the Whist League there were wins for Hyde Club, Mossley B and St Peters, leaving Denton and Mossley tied on 12 points. 

Week 9 saw St Peters host Staly Labour, Denton CC play Staly Vegas and Mossley B play Hyde Club. In the Snooker League there was a 5-0 win for Mossley B and 3-2 wins for St Peters and Denton CC. This means that St Peters and Denton are still tied at the top on 27 points.  In the Whist League, sponsored by Zeros Bar, there were wins for Denton, Mossley B and St Peters, which means Denton and Mossley have 14 points with St Peters on 12 points. 

Week 10 saw St Peters play Mossley B, Hyde Club play Staly Vegas and Denton CC play Staly Labour. In the Snooker League there was a 4-1 win for Mossley B and 3-2 wins for Denton and Staly Vegas.  In the Whist League there were wins for Hyde Club and St Peters. These results mean that in the Snooker League, Denton are top with 30 points and Mossley and St Peters are second with 28 points. In the Whist League, Denton are top with 16 points and again Mossley are joint second with St Peters on 14 points. 

It is very good to be back again and it has been welcomed by all the clubs involved. The league is competitive, whilst giving the players the opportunity to socialise every Thursday .The league has a lot of long serving members and some new players have joined this year, but we are always looking for new players or teams.
