Evolution Martial Arts continue their success

A local martial arts club has endured success over the past few weeks in various national competitions.

Evolution Martial Arts in Glossop travelled to the Doncaster Dome on Sunday September 21 to compete at the WKKC Ippon Challenge, a prestigious event that is in its ninth year, coming away with numerous medals.

The team of seven fighters brought home ten podium places between them, competing in points fighting and light continuous kickboxing.

Among those were Madison Buxton, who won two golds and one bronze; Demi Walsh, who won one gold and one silver; Ole Taylor, who won one silver; Leah Meehan, who won two bronze; Blake Webster, who won one bronze; and finally, Anna Meehan, who also came away with a bronze.

To add to these achievements, over the past weekend a smaller fight team travelled to Northampton to take part in the Northants Challenge Cup, again coming away with numerous podium positions.

15-year-old Junior Instructor Madison Buxton lead the way with three golds including stepping up into an older age group and competing against ladies.

Demi Walsh bagged another gold to add to her recent haul, while Blake Webster picked up a silver and Lily Zuntz-Buxton came away with two Bronze.

In just two weeks' time four team members from Evolution will travel to Albufeira, Portugal to take part in the WKC World Championships, where Chief Instructor Kelly Buxton and daughter Madison will be hoping to retain the three World Titles they each won last year.

The girls will be joined by Leah, who won a silver medal last year, and junior competitor Demi Walsh who will attend her first World Championships.

Competing at the World Championships is all self funded, and so at this time the club would like to show their thanks and appreciation to Madison's sponsors for this year: Specialist Building Services Glossop, Taylor Made Designs, ProActive, Phitness.co.uk, Silver Lining, JW Packaging Design, Martec Martial Arts Supplies and WOMAA Fight Gear.

Evolution Martial Arts offer classes for children aged 3 years right through to adults.
