During the last seven months, Curzon Ashton Community Foundation has been working a lot closer with one of their partners, The Veterans Food Company.
Noel Goulding and Dave Gale from The Veterans Food Company were the beating heart of Tameside from March until July during the first lockdown of 2020 and also during lockdown 2.0.
They produced over 8000 meals using Curzon Ashton Football Club's kitchen, all hand delivered for free to vulnerable people during the peak of Covid-19. With a big help from David Brown and TASC (Tameside Armed Services Community) freshly cooked meals and food hampers were delivered to 30 veterans and their families throughout Tameside twice a week.
Curzon Ashton Community Foundation and the Football Club were delighted to assist The Veterans Food Company and Rochdale Boroughwide Housing with the challenge of producing 1100 Christmas dinners for the independent living schemes in Rochdale. Together they managed to create a full Christmas dinner and a pudding. These meals were delivered by housing officers to ensure everyone had a Merry Christmas.
Also during the Christmas holidays, The Veterans Food Company, 0161 in the Community, and Curzon Ashton Community Foundation prepared 50 meals per day which were delivered by the workers from 0161 in the Community to ensure families in the community all had a meal whilst their children were away from school.
On Friday 15 January, Dave Gale and Isaac Keast were at the Tameside Stadium handing out free frozen sausages for the people in their community who needed them the most. In total they donated 240 beef burgers, 1890 six packs of sausages, as well as 8000 singular sausages.
On Friday 22nd January they will both return and donate more sausages to the community. With orders already in place they are preparing to donate 4320 six packs of sausages to food banks, homeless outreach organisations, and people who will distribute them to their neighbors. If you would like to know more details about these donations then please get in touch with Isaac at isaac@curzon-ashton.co.uk
Once lockdown is over and Covid-19 has calmed down, Curzon Ashton Community Foundation and the Veterans Food Company will once again join forces for a number of new programs which will engage within the Armed Forces Community. A monthly veterans lunch, cooking classes, and a military veterans wives and girlfriends program will hopefully start in 2021.
As well as the above, once lockdown 3.0 is over all of our Armed Forces Community Programs will restart following the Government and the FA guidelines.
