Mossley moved out of the NPL West relegation zone on Tuesday with an emphatic 3-0 win away to third placed Trafford.
The Lilywhites took a surprise lead after just nine minutes when Eric Yahaya’s layoff was smashed home by the onrushing Joe Berks.
David Fish’s men went into half-time in front, and just minutes into the second-half this lead was extended when Mason Fawns converted from the spot after Eric Yahaya was brought down inside the box.
Fawns was involved again moments later as his cross was headed goalwards by Matt Kardacz, only for the forwards effort to be cleared off the line.
Mossley then added a third just after the hour mark thanks to a moment of brilliance from Obua Mugalula, who picked the ball up on the half-way line before beating three men and slotting the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper.
The Lilywhites then managed to hold onto their clean sheet and record a vital win, which saw them move up to 16th in the table.
Following the win, Mossley boss David Fish hit back at critics who raised their concerns after the loss to Atherton Collieries over the weekend.
“Football can be a cruel sport sometimes,” Fish told Mossley’s YouTube channel.
“Of course people are entitled to their opinion, and some of the comments were fair, but some of it was just nonsense.
“But as the saying goes, don’t take criticism from people you wouldn’t take advice from.
“We went back to basics tonight (Tuesday) and really tried to simplify things. Myself and the management team have got some things wrong over the past few weeks, so we just tried to go back to what we worked on in pre-season and that really paid off for us.
“Hopefully the internet is working in Mossley tonight and some people can go on and write some positive statements.”
This weekend, Mossley welcome strugglers Witton Albion to Seel Park before hosting Tameside rivals Ashton United in the first round of the Manchester Premier Cup on Tuesday.
