A number of our sides were in pre-season action on Tuesday night.
Unfortunately, a torrential downpour before kick-off resulted in Ashton's United's fixture at Irlam being postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
However, Hyde United made the short trip to Glossop North End and stormed to a 4-0 victory at the Amdek Forklift Stadium. The Tigers entered the game on the back of an entertaining 4-4 draw against Bradford Park Avenue four days earlier, and they continued their goalscoring exploits through Brad Roscoe's bullet header in the early stages.
Dave McGurk's side doubled their advantage in the second-half through Tom Pratt. The striker turned his man and fired an effort into the roof of the net. The visitors made it 3-0 after a well worked piece of play between Jack Sheratt and Pratt resulted in Harry Benns heading home from close range.
And Hyde rounded off a fantastic evening with a fourth from the penalty spot. Pratt was brought down inside the box and Bamba converted the spot kick.
Following the game, this is what McGurk had to say to Hyde's media team:

Elsewhere, in a game that honoured former Stalybridge Celtic and Manchester United player Bert Whalley with a plaque unveiling at Bower Fold, Celtic fell to a 5-1 defeat to the reds' Under 23s.
The visitors took the lead in the 17th minute through Zidane Igbal. The striker hit an effort into the bottom right corner, leaving goalkeeper Grant Shenton with no chance.
United took the lead into the half-time break and were made to wait until the 61st minute to add a second. Hoogewerf and McNeill exchanged passes, before the former hit an effort into the back of the net.
And less than three minutes later United were three goals up - again through Hoogewerf.
The hosts did manage to reduce the arrears four minutes later, as Scott Bakkor took advantage of a loose ball from a free-kick, composed himself and fired low past the visitors' 'keeper.
But in the 79th minute United added a fourth through Alejandro Garnacho, before adding gloss to the scoreline with a fifth just three minutes later through Emeran.
At the Tameside Stadium, Curzon Ashton welcomed League Two Salford City and were beaten 1-0. The Nash entered the game on the back of a 2-1 victory at Stalybridge Celtic just four days earlier, however they were narrowly beaten in the pouring rain as the Ammies' Ash Hunter powered an effort beyond Chris Renshaw with just ten minutes remaining.
