The Endurance GB International Committee has announced that Libby Keating from Glossop has been selected to represent England at the Home International Endurance Championships.
The event will take place on the 10th and 11th of August in Kilkenny, Ireland.
The Home International Endurance Championship is a highly anticipated annual competition that brings together teams from England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland to showcase their equestrian prowess.
Libby, who is autistic, has shown remarkable dedication and resilience in the sport of endurance riding. She rides The Royale Groom (affectionately known as Mr B), a 15-year-old Irish Sports Horse. The pair started endurance in 2022 and have achieved success up to 72km in one day, with a consistent record totalling 571km in competition.
Libby expressed her excitement about her selection: “Representing England is an unbelievable opportunity for me. I took up competitive endurance riding only three years ago with my horse The Royale Groom (Mr B to his friends!). We want to showcase that endurance really is a sport accessible to every horse and rider. Mr B has fought his way back from multiple health problems, and I have overcome serious injuries and have a diagnosis of autism. Despite these challenges, we have been welcomed into the endurance family and now into the England squad! Roll on August, and we hope to make the team, and England, proud!”
Bella Fricker, the Chef d’Equipe of the England squad, expressed her confidence in the selected team, praising their exceptional talent. “We are delighted with our final team. With such a huge pool of talent to choose from, the selection wasn’t easy. We have every confidence in the squad’s ability to tackle the Irish terrain, particularly with such established combinations to represent us.”
The Endurance GB International Committee extends its best wishes to the entire England Squad as they embark on this thrilling journey to the Home International Championships.
