Lee Wilshaw leaves Glossop North End

Glossop North End

Glossop North End has announced the departure of one of its longest-serving players, Lee Wilshaw.

The defender was the club’s captain for two years running between 2021 and 2023 and his spell at the club spanned over four seasons. It is reported that Wilshaw has decided to call time on his contract at Glossop in order to pursue a career in coaching. The 27-year-old is currently the head coach of Rochdale AFC’s EDS squad, and increasing work commitments mean he is unable to continue at North End.

The full-back was a great leader and a popular figure in the dressing room, winning the players player of the season award for the 2021/22 season. He was also a favourite amongst supporters, with many fans taking to Twitter to express their disappointment at his decision to leave and to wish him all the best.

It seems Wilshaw does not intend to give up on playing altogether though, as it was also noted in the club’s announcement that Wilshaw is seeking further playing opportunities, which has likely influenced his decision to leave the club.
