Lilywhites rescue a point in bank holiday thriller

Mossley rescued a late point away to nearby Avro on bank holiday Monday, atoning for their 3-0 loss to Hanley Town just days earlier.

The Lilywhites took the lead early in the second half with Eric Yahaya heading in from a corner, only for David Fish's men to be pegged back minutes later by a strike from Kyle Hawley.

The Ro then completed the turnaround, with Liam Ellis slotting the ball home to put the hosts ahead.

But it was Mossley's Reece Webb-Foster who had the final say, rifling the ball home on the half volley to draw his side level ten minutes from time.

A crucial point for Mossley, which prevents them from entering a potential rut after what would have been back-to-back losses.

The draw sees The Lilywhites sit firmly in mid table in the Northern Premier League West after four games played.

Their attention turns to the FA Cup this weekend when they host Premier Division side Whitby Town in the first qualifying round.
