Curzon Ashton goalkeeper Cameron Mason has been selected to represent the England C squad for their friendly against Wales this month.
Despite the error in judgement on Saturday with defender Andy Halls, which led to a 93rd minute equaliser for leaders York City, the 24-year-old shot stopper has been a standout player this season.
After signing for the club in 2014, Mason trained alongside former goalkeeper Hakan Burton and found it difficult to establish himself as a first team regular.
However, following Hakan’s move to Colne in 2017, Mason has become the number one choice at the Tameside Stadium and has since become a fans’ favourite both on and off the pitch.
He spent a period on the sidelines earlier this season having had an operation, but he has since returned to the fold and put in a number of impressive displays to help the Nash to some valuable points. He signed a contract extension with the club in January.
England's game against Wales will take place at the Oval, home of Caernarfon Town FC, on Tuesday 24 March 2020 (7.45pm).
