Osei 'feels at home at Celtic'

Darius Osei said he feels at home at Stalybridge Celtic and feels playing for the club is a good opportunity for him, after signing a contract until the end of the season. 

Simon Haworth’s side were given another welcome boost immediately after Saturday’s 3-2 win over Bamber Bridge, by the news that the in-form striker has extended his stay at Bower Fold.

Osei re-joined the BetVictor Premier Division side on 19 September for a second spell. 

He has since made a significant impact for Celtic, scoring five goals in six appearances, in which he has only missed 27 minutes of action. 

The 23-year-old forward was named Man of the Match against Bamber Bridge following a fine display, and got Celtic off to a flying start after opening the scoring inside three minutes. 

He told the club’s media team after the game he feels he’s settled well back at the club and is pleased to have committed to Celtic for the remainder of the campaign. 

“I missed pre-season, I wasn’t playing football but I think I’ve fitted in well,” Osei said. “There wasn’t match fitness there at first but I think I’ve settled in well. I’ve got to get the goals as a striker which I have done so I think I’ve fitted in well.

“I’ve spoken to the gaffer. Obviously he wants me to stay and he wants to build the team around me. I think it’s a good opportunity for me, to sign for Stalybridge and play for them. I’ve been away so it’s been a while since I was last at the club. A lot hasn’t really changed since I was last here, but obviously it’s a different squad and a different manager. It feels like home.” 

Prior to his return to Bower Fold last month, Darius had previously progressed through the club's reserve team before featuring for the first team between 2014 and 2016. He has also played at a higher level for Oldham Athletic and Maidstone United.
